A little bit more about me when I'm not on the clock

I grew up in northern Illinois, but I love South Dakota.
I came to the University of South Dakota to study journalism and Native Studies. When my family comes to visit, we always take time to visit Falls Park in Sioux Falls.
I adore the state's natural beauty.
I first visited South Dakota on a family road trip, and I've taken many more for work and fun since moving to Vermillion. I've visited Chamberlain, Lower Brule Reservation, Rosebud Reservation, Spearfish, and (of course) The Badlands. The varied landscape of this state never fails to leave me in awe.

I've also been fascinated by weather since I was a kid.
What started out as a paralyzing fear became a life-long interest in severe weather. I've attended a couple NWS weather spotter training seminars and hope to someday ride along with professional storm chasers.
When I'm able to do so safely, I enjoy storm watching.
Sometimes I take pictures, like I did with the storm I watched develop from Rockford, IL, in early August 2015.
